Housing News

Centex Corporation, a national home builder with operations in the Puget Sound area, said sales orders for the second quarter were down 28% to 6828 homes. Cancellations rose also as buyers were unable to sell their existing homes first.

Prices of homes appear to be coming back to Earth on a national basis..A collapse in prices is unlikely, however, due to continued strong spending by consumers and business, steady government spending, and low interest rates, all of which are keeping the economy strong.

In the Puget Sound area, we are seeing a slight increase in the number of homes for sale and a slowing of pending sales. Prices appear to be stable.
